Volunteer with Ontario's Geospatial Association!
Volunteers are our lifeblood! The Ontario Association has been so successful because of the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, committee members, and directors. We could not operate without the time and talent that our members freely provide. And in return, volunteers receive many benefits, including professional networking opportunities and professional growth. Volunteering is a great way to network with peers and colleagues in the GIS and IT industry. It is a great way to meet new people and establish professional relationships.
We encourage all members to become involved with the URISA Ontario - positions are available in many areas. Please consider volunteering for a director position or a standing committee. The Eastern, Western and Northern Ontario Sections are looking for dedicated volunteers to help carryout GIS events in those areas.
A Board Director serves a two-year term from April 1st to March 31st and up until the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in April/May time frame. Board members are responsible for setting policy and determining the direction of our association. A director must attend at least 7 meetings each year (5 Board meetings, the annual Strategic Planning and the AGM). Teleconference is available during some board meetings.
Standing committees meet once a month in varying locations or by teleconference. Standing committees include:
If you are unable to volunteer as Chair or for a regular committee member position at this time, then please consider helping with a task for a committee.
